Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have made significant changes to the way this years food drive will work.

Before launching this years drive the Brant Brant Health Unit and Brantford Bylaw were consulted to ensure our plans were in compliance with all government directives. We are complying with all government social distancing directives and we are taking additional steps to prepare and equip volunteers to hold a safe, fun, and effective food drive.

In order to ensure social distancing is maintained we have eliminated door knocking for this years food drive. Additionally we have eliminated food sorting and will have volunteers box the food they collect at their cars before returning to their church to drop it off. This process eliminates the need for close contact with other volunteers who are not part of their household.

Here are some additional steps we are taking to ensure everyone’s safety.
  • We insist that everyone follow the government mandated social distancing rules that apply at the time of the drive. Bylaw is aware of our event and welcome to attend if they wish.
  • Volunteers are asked to stay home if they are:
    • High risk
    • Sick
    • Have been in contact with someone who is positive or suspected positive for Covid-19 in the 14 days prior to the event
  • Volunteers who present with Covid-19 symptoms will be sent home
  • We have secured a supply of hand sanitizer for all church hubs so volunteers can top up their personal bottles for this event. Volunteers are asked to bring their own hand sanitizer bottles and top them up when they get their kits
  • Volunteer are expected to wear a mask as they may accidentally come within 6 feed of home occupants while going house to house
  • This event is held outdoors where social distancing can be maintained
